Staring at my quarantine streak…well more like how many days I’ve been working from home, this includes the weekends, we are currently at 105 days. It doesn’t seem like that long but it also does. I’ve adjusted well to making my home space into my office space. I have a table that I put up every Monday morning and take down every Friday after 5 p.m. I’ve realized what works for me and what doesn’t work for me. Is it okay to have the TV on as background noise or is it easily distracting? Am I better off listening to a podcast or focus music through Spotify? Or am I just better off not listening to anything at all.
There are many distractions when it comes to working from home. You have your pets
By the way, the reason why I have Nigel Thornberry and Ron Swanson next to our pets is because that’s who Kane and I pictured them as if they could talk in human voices. You’re welcome.
You have your amazing coworker. (but we have learned from each other to keep focus and when we are focused…we are focused!)
You have the TV, the window, the kitchen just around the corner, the couch behind you, your bed down the hall, squirrel. Many, many distractions. But make sure you get your work done first before play.
June went by way too fast, and I mean wayyyy too fast!
Our women’s study started back up this month (I’ll talk more about that later on this blog)
Kane and I are still going to marriage classes until the middle of July with our Pastor (we have two more left). Our Pastor just recently took us out for ice cream. So much for no sweets until the wedding…oops. But it was totally worth it.
We met with the Pastor who has been with Kane for mostly his entire life, who will be marrying us, to go over ceremony details. SO EXCITING!
Kane and I are still having our Friday night date nights by ordering curb side food and taking it to go…whether its back to our place (weather permitting) or taking it to Copper Creek and eating it at the park followed by a walk.
Kane had his bachelor party…which was pretty laid back and entailed a grill out, yard games, drinking, and just being men.
I went and saw my dad’s grave for Father’s Day and spent some alone time there.
But what was trending for me in June?
Listening To: High School Emo Playlist. All of these songs brought back so many memories during my high school and early college days.
Watching: The Year of Spectacular Men. I recently found this movie on Hulu and decided…why not. I actually enjoyed it. It’s the story of a girl named Izzy Klein who is fresh out of college and is known to ruin relationships with men, struggles to live in the failures of post-college adulthood but also leans on her mother and older sister for support.
Reading: Made Like Martha- Katie M. Reid. This is the book that Jodi, Jo and myself are reading in our women’s study. All three of us are Martha’s and this book is ON POINT with everything. It’s such a great read and I love my ladies!
Trying: To be more open with communication. This has been something that I’ve struggled with a lot throughout my life. I’m not meaning that I don’t communicate well when it comes to the work place or reaching out to people…but what I mean is that it’s hard for me to openly talk when something is wrong with me. It takes me a while to process information that is overwhelming or just a lot on my heart. I’m getting better though…bare with me.
Obsessing: Fruit snacks and napping. Yes. I’m a toddler again. I’ve come to the realization that fruit snacks are a simple cure to everything and who doesn’t like naps? I feel like June was a pretty busy month and naps just constantly sound good. Unless I’m just not sleeping well..
I’m really excited to what July has to bring. I know this month is going to go by extremely fast considering (as of today), Kane and I will be married in 50 days. 50 DAYS! Holy crap. I still can’t wrap my head around it. I’m beyond excited to be his wife and to spend the rest of my life with my best friend. It’s such a blessing and I’m truly the luckiest girl in the world.
What were you listening to, watching, reading, trying and obsessing with during June?
XO!
